How to choose the right size for your designer bed frame
The size of your bed frame determines both your comfort and the amount of space it takes up in your bedroom. Our range is available in three standard sizes: a single bed frame in 90 x 190 cm, a 140 x 190 cm frame for two people and a 160 x 200 cm designer bed frame in queen size. Check that the frame is compatible with your current mattress before placing your order.
Do you also need to replace your bed base?
It all comes down to the difference between a bed frame and a bed base: the frame is the visible structure that surrounds and supports the mattress, while the bed base sits underneath and provides technical support, helping with ventilation and extending the lifespan of the mattress. If your bed base is in good condition and the right size, replacing the frame alone is enough to refresh the look of your bed. Otherwise, a complete bed combines both elements.
Beyond the dimensions of the mattress, the height of the bed frame also affects how the bed is used. A low frame, positioned 20 to 30 cm above the floor, makes smaller spaces feel visually lighter. A higher frame, between 35 and 45 cm, makes getting in and out of bed easier on a daily basis.
In terms of overall dimensions, allow an additional 5 to 10 cm around the mattress to account for the thickness of the frame. Measure the available space and factor in this extra margin before choosing your model.
To make the most of a small bedroom, a bed frame with storage uses the space underneath the bed with built-in drawers. This gives you extra storage without adding another piece of furniture to the room.
Wood or fabric: which on-trend bed frame should you choose for your bedroom?
The material of your bed frame defines the atmosphere of your bedroom. A wooden bed frame, whether made from oak or beech, brings natural warmth to the room and is easy to clean. A fabric bed frame gives the structure a softer, cosier feel and pairs naturally with an upholstered headboard.
For a minimalist look, we favour clean lines, neutral palettes, simple geometric shapes and light woods that help maximise brightness.
What are the most popular bed frame colours?
Neutral shades remain the most popular choice because they work well with most bedroom interiors. A white or beige bed frame brightens the room and makes smaller spaces feel visually larger, while grey and greige add a contemporary touch that is easy to coordinate with bed linen. Natural wood tones, from light oak to darker walnut, add warmth to a minimalist interior. A black bed frame creates a strong contrast in a bedroom with light-coloured walls. For fabric models, bolder shades such as sage green, terracotta or midnight blue can turn the bed into the focal point of the room.
